Uitdagende zwierige jurken! Strakke maatpakken! Op het eerste zicht zijn Lady Linn en haar fantastische zeven niet echt hip. Ook muzikaal zijn de echo’s uit een ver verleden nogal prominent… maar vrees niet, hippe vogels! Lien De Greef, want zo heet Lady Linn, heeft genoeg ‘juiste’ referenties in huis. Zo was zij de stem (en vaak veel meer) van Bolchie en het soulvolle Skeemz. Zelfs technopioniers als Alton Miller huurden haar talenten in. Maar de lady had al die tijd een half verborgen liefde; de swing jazz van de jaren ’20 tot ’50 toen de bigbands en dansorkesten jazz tot de meest populaire dansmuziek van de planeet maakten. Ze was er van overtuigd dat net die muziek nu nog de dansvloer kan vullen. In 2002 vond ze de Magnificent Seven en dat bleek de perfecte band om dat plan ui te voeren. Met een handvol classics (van oa Duke Ellington, Stan Kenton, Benny Goodman en Ella Fitzgerald) onder de arm toverden ze elke dansvloer om tot een zinderende dancehall. Sinds 2006 schrijft Lady Linn ook haar eigen songs en kwam er ook een flinke scheut Aretha Franklin, Motown en eigentijdse pop in de mix. Met resultaat, denk aan de fantasische cover van ‘I Don’t Wanna Dance’ en de platina statuus van haar laatste cd ‘Here We Go Again’. She first came to prominence as the lead singer of Ghent-based pop sensation ‘Bolchi’, the group led by Jeroen De Pessemier who is currently stirring the dance world as part of ' Foxylane'and ‘The Subs’. Lady Linn always had a penchant for soul and that is exactly what she has been bringing to the urban collective of ‘Skeemz’. This fine band has been playing together for many years and Lady Linn makes her mark by delivering lead and backing vocals and co-producing their songs together with DJ Buzz, another well-known talent in the Belgian music scene.As if all this is not enough Lady Linn can also be found providing live vocals on top of tracks played by DJ Red D, ensuring that Lien has also become in-demand in the Belgian and international house scene. This lead to Lien lending her voice to a track produced by Alton Miller, one of Detroit’s original house producers.But Lady Linn also had something jazzy on her mind… Being a big fan of old swing jazz and utterly convinced of the appeal and dancing power of this music she set about forming a group that would bring back the swing and thus ‘Lady Linn and Her Magnificent’ Seven was born. This collective of trained musicians met at the ‘Conservatorium’ in Ghent and has been playing together for 4 years now. At first they brought interpretations of existing classic jazz songs with the expressed aim of putting this music back on the map. Countless gigs followed and back in 2006 Lady Linn decided it was time to take things a step further and started writing new and original songs for the band. The first single ‘Shopping’ gave us a glance of things to come and was rewarded with airplay on Radio 1. Now we finally see the release of the anticipated full album ‘Here we go again, all new tracks written and arranged by Lien and produced by Jeroen De Pessemier.
